Executive Bios

Scott Sorensen
Chief Executive Officer

As chief executive officer (CEO) of Sorenson Communications and CaptionCall, Scott K. Sorensen is responsible for oversight of all departments and the strategic direction of both companies. Under his leadership, Sorenson Communications and CaptionCall offer the nation’s leading communication services for people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.

In 2007, Mr. Sorensen joint Sorenson Communications as the company’s chief financial officer (CFO). Subsequently, he served as chief operating officer (COO) of Sorenson Communications.  Prior to joining Sorenson Communications, Mr. Sorensen served as the senior financial executive for several companies, including two New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)-listed enterprises. He was the CFO of Headwaters, Inc. (HW - NYSE), a diversified company with leading positions in the building materials and alternative energy industries. Mr. Sorensen was also the vice president and CFO of Hillenbrand Industries, Inc., a manufacturer and provider of products and services for the health care and funeral services industries. Previously, he worked at McKinsey & Company, Westinghouse Electric and Huntsman Corporation.  Mr. Sorensen currently serves on the board of directors of Wabash National Corporation (NYSE - WNC) with assignments on both the audit and compensation committees.
Mr. Sorensen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Utah and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Harvard Business School.

Jason Dunn, Vice President, CaptionCall Centers
Jason Dunn is responsible for hiring, training and managing thousands of employees to ensure the company delivers the nation’s highest-quality communication service for the hard-of-hearing. Mr. Dunn oversees the strategic selection of center locations, sets performance targets and provides the ongoing growth in staff to meet customer demands.
Previously, Mr. Dunn served as Director, then Vice President of Operations for all Sorenson Communications operations, including all Sorenson Video Relay Service (SVRS), Sorenson IP Relay (SIPRelay), and Sorenson VRS Canada operations. Under his supervision, operational performance and quality of service consistently improved.
Prior to joining Sorenson Communications, Mr. Dunn worked as Compliance Coordinator, then as Customer Services Manager for American Airlines, in Salt Lake City. There, he supervised customer service employees and oversaw the daily operational activities of the airline.
Mr. Dunn holds a B.S. degree in business administration from the University of Utah. He is a recipient of Utah Business Magazine’s “Forty Under 40” award. Mr. Dunn is a member of the Regional Advisory Board of USU Eastern. 

Mike Holm, Vice President of Engineering & IT, CaptionCall  
In leading product development for CaptionCall, Mike Holm oversees the design and creation of hardware platforms, device firmware, clouds systems software and operating services. He is also responsible for industrial and user interface design, system architecture, web services, IT systems development and operation, customer technical support and technical corporate systems infrastructure.
Previously, Mr. Holm was Director of Program Management for Sorenson Video Relay Service (SVRS) and Sorenson IP Relay (SIPRelay). He and his team managed the development and launch of the ntouchVP videophone and VRS software for Android®, iPhone® and iPad®
In the past, Mr. Holm was Senior Global Program Manager for Logitech Corporation. During 11 years at Microsoft, he was Director of Product Development for Microsoft Consumer and Hardware Products. Prior to his work at Microsoft, Mr. Holm spent nine years at Apple, where he served as a Program and Product Line Manager for Macintosh operating systems and media development tools. Products developed under his direction at Logitech, Microsoft and Apple received prestigious awards from PC Magazine and from InfoWorld, MacUser, MacWorld and BYTE magazines.
Mr. Holm holds a B.A. in Journalism from San Jose State University. Computers and high-tech gadgets have been his avocation since high school.

Cameron Tingey, Vice President of Sales, CaptionCall  
As Vice President, Cameron Tingey is responsible for creating sales strategies, developing new leads and partners, supervising hiring and training installers, and ensuring overall customer satisfaction.
Prior to his work with CaptionCall, Mr. Tingey, helped launch Sorenson VRS (SVRS), a service which empowers deaf and hearing people to conduct SVRS calls in real time. For more than eight years, Mr. Tingey managed SVRS customers and installers, primarily on the East Coast and in the Southeast, where he established key accounts.
Before joining Sorenson Communications, Mr. Tingey was manager of channel sales and marketing for Sorenson Media. In that position, he expanded channel presence from eight resellers to more than 225, in 40 different countries, increasing channel sales by more than 150 percent.

In the past, Mr. Tingey worked in sales and account management with MindShare Associates.
Mr. Tingey holds a B.A. in business administration from Weber State University and an MBA from the University of Utah.

Bruce Peterson, Vice President of Marketing, CaptionCall  
As Vice President of Marketing for CaptionCall, Bruce Peterson is responsible for overall strategic and tactical marketing efforts, including brand management, trademarks, market research, advertising, tradeshows and events, direct and online marketing. 
Prior to being named to this position, Mr. Peterson was Senior Director of Marketing for Sorenson Communications, where he was responsible for managing Sorenson trademarks and product launch activities.
Before joining Sorenson Communications, Mr. Peterson held a variety of marketing positions with the Fortune 500 companies Samsung, Ericsson and IBM. While at Samsung, Mr. Peterson drove the sell-through of 15 million handsets, which generated more than $1.8 billion in revenue over three years. At Ericsson, he increased customer satisfaction 14 percent over two years. While at IBM, he drove $1 million in new equipment sales by bundling options offered with the introduction of Windows® 2000.
Mr. Peterson holds a B.A. in organizational communications from the University of Utah and an M.S. in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University.

Mel Walker, Vice President, Business Development, CaptionCall  
Mr. Walker leads a team focused on new business ventures while maintaining CaptionCall’s competitive advantage in the marketplace.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Walker was the product management director for CaptionCall and Sorenson Communications. He joined Sorenson in 2005, as the first project manager for Sorenson Video Relay Service®. He successfully led product management efforts that included the launch of the VP-200® videophone, ntouch® VP, ntouch® mobile and the entire suite of ntouch® products. Under his leadership, Sorenson became the first Video Relay Service (VRS) provider to integrate emergency 911 services and offer the first phone number solution to tie VRS videophones to the North American Numbering Plan.
Prior to joining Sorenson Communications, Mr. Walker worked for Sorenson Media, where he established the engineering project management team. Prior to that position, he managed multi-million dollar software development efforts for Ingenix – a division of UnitedHealth Group; supervised internet and multimedia development projects at Candesa; and served as an associated producer at Sierra Entertainment.
Mr. Walker earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from the University of Utah and has conducted post-graduate work in technology management.
